Aquaculture

Our aquaculture practices are based on our deep caring for the planet and the absolute need for sustainable and responsible fishing & farming methods.

Our founder was trained in the Scottish Highlands last century and these skills and techniques are used today to produce fish of both uncompromising quality and sustainability.

Salmon & Trout Farming

Modern facilities are used to produce over 1 million juveniles which are then placed on selected on-growing sites throughout South Africa. These fish are raised on a unique feed recipe which ensures the fish are lean and of the highest quality.

One year later they return to our famous Three Streams Smokehouse for value-adding and distribution to the finest dining tables world wide.

The Hatchery

Our Hatchery is Bio-Secure and only certified disease free ova are imported from the USA, Denmark, Scotland or Norway.  Our modern hatchery uses old style hatching techniques, but with most recent R&D standards we achieve 95% survival to viable fry and fingerlings.

The hatchery takes in ova every 2 months, cycling 6 cohorts through the hatchery & nursery system every year.

We run a strict Bio-Security Program; ova are tested on receipt and each cohort is tested twice before leaving Three Streams for on-growing.

Grow Out

Our Select Farms abide to our Trout Farming Code of Practice, ensuring consumer protection & environmental responsibility.  Only the best quality feeds that are fully traceable and sustainable are used, ensuring premium quality product.

After the fish reach harvest size they are harvested using humane methods and then they return to our famous Three Streams Smokehouse for value-adding and distribution to the finest dining tables world wide.
